Do you want to see a car you don’t see every day? Take a good look at the 1972 Ford Pinto of Dan & Jeanne Callahan. This car is really different. The engine has been bored, stroked, heads ported, & has twin Hollies. This car really gets down the road if you can keep the tires connected to the asphalt. Dan told me he took it to the drags & put three 100 pound sacks of sand in it to keep it down. Well, he got caught. I don’t know if he was disqualified or just burned rubber all night with the lightened car.

When asked why a Pinto? Dan said in 1983 the car was his son’s first car & after he was done beating the hell out of it he relieved his son of the vehicle & went to work on it as it was just sitting there. After much work, 390 hours of body work, reworked engine, & a few bucks he had the fine machine ready to roll. That engine is pushing some 450 ponies to make that Pinto go.

In 2008 he took first place in the Grand National Roadster Show.

Dan has taken the car to Sacramento twice, San Diego three times, Santa Anita, lots of local shows & to numerous Cal-Rods functions. The next time you see Dan & the Pinto, look at the paint job; it's over thirty years old & looking good. Glad you & the Pinto are in Cal-Rods Dan.
