October’s featured car is more a treat than a trick.  It is the tricked out 1956 Ford Panel truck of Ray and Marian Mahoney.  The Rum Runner graphics set on the pinstriped white paint job reminds you of pirates, wild parties in the Caribbean, and of course Halloween for the month of October.  Ray and Marian do party it up in the panel truck with lots of room in the back for chairs, E-Z-UPS, tables, and of course, rum. The nicely finished interior includes beautiful bucket seats of Naugahyde with tweed inserts. The rear interior repeats the theme with pirate logos for both.   Under the hood the 383 Stroker engine with the 4-barrel Holly carburetor moves the panel truck on down the road.

In 1999 Ray was looking for a project when he found the truck in Moreno Valley.  He bought it and he was off to fixing it up. While tearing out the old wood paneling that lined the trucks walls, he discovered a bumper sticker.  It read “Bush Gardens”. Well remembering the good times at the old Bush Gardens, he left it there in hopes someday someone else will have the pleasure of finding that same sticker.

Ray has been to dozens of local shows, CAL-RODS functions, Orange County, Long Beach, and Dana Point.  He loves to cruise in it especially to the CAL-RODS meetings. “Keep on Trucking, Ray”.
