This month’s featured car is the 1957 Chevrolet pickup of Bob and Jan Shively. Bob bought the pickup from former CAL-ROD member Sonny Olson. I have some knowledge of this vehicle as Sonny is my brother in-law. The pickup came out of Colorado and had some rusted areas when he first got it. But with the frame-off build all was corrected. The clip was done by Williams, both the bodywork and paint were done by Ray’s in La Puente, the powder coating of frame and engine was done in Azusa, the upholstery was done by Martin Avina in San Dimas, and the bed cover is a Snug Top. It also has a new bed fill gas tank, new Haywire wiring harness, new chrome bumpers/grille, Vintage air, new steering column, and a new radio. As you can see, just about everything has been changed.
Talking with Bob he said he always wanted a pickup, and he needed something that was complete, as the projects he is working on don’t leave him much time to work on his other cars. Although he did say hopefully in a few months/years he will be done with the other projects and then off to working on the cars. I think he told me he has three others that need the TLC.
This pick-up is about as clean looking as you will ever see and will be going to a lot of shows real soon starting with Dr. George show in Palm Springs, Whitter Show, Big Bear Fun Run, Wheels & Mills in Solvang and anything else Bob and Jan can get to in between. Bob and Jan glad you and the pickup are in CAL-RODS.
