Gary says it is his car and Sheree says it is her car. Well, let's say it is Gary’s because Sheree had her car as the Featured Car last month and she can’t have them both. For now, it’s Gary’s (I’m sure Sheree will have something to say about that because she really loves this car). This car was originally built by Earle Williams in the early 70’s before he went into the Tri-Five chassis business. He sold it in the late 70’s to Fred Bowman, who sold it to Deno Borghi in 2002, who sold it to Gary in 2019. Fred added the blower and 2 Holly 600 carbs pushing the horsepower up to 450-500, cut the hole in the hood for the blower and put on the Center Line wheels, Deno added the power disk brakes, the electric trunk release, and a few other odds and ends. Gary is poised to improve it even more. Gary did run into Earle Williams and got him to autograph the glove compartment door. I added a picture of it, but his dash is so shinny you see a reflection of the trans shifter and me taking the picture. With all their work they have created one beautiful hot rod. The car has a history of being displayed at many hot rod venues including the Winter Nationals. Gary, in the short time he has owned it, has been to Ruby’s in Whittier, Belmont Shore, Via Verde, Rotolo Chevrolet in Fontana, and other local shows. He does a great job of showing it and I for one am glad Gary, Sheree, and the 55 Chevy are part of CAL-RODS. |
