December, Christmas time, Holiday time, mistletoe time and time to bring out another fine ride of our club, that being the 1960 Thunderbird of Vic and Wanda Cunnyngham. The 58-60 was the first model after the iconic two-seater Thunderbird. Through much public demand Ford changed to the four-seater and its popularity grew and outsold the previous model.
Vic bought this one from disc jockey, J. B. Brown in Riverside. It was originally white, not in the best condition, with dented fenders, other imperfections and even had a salvage title on it. But after 2 years of hard work and tons of money, Vic put this beauty on the road in its new glory.
Take a good look at the detail Vic has put into this car. The “WILD BIRD” lettering and emblems, the detailed engine, the tuck and roll upholstery, the wood knobs on the dash, CAL-RODS plaque and more. He has completely rebuilt the engine and transmission. Great job, Vic.
I asked Vic why the bird? He said, “With as many accidents as I get into, I need something easy to get in and out of and is easy to drive”.
In the short time he has had it finished, he has taken it to a lot of car shows including Santa Maria and San Clemente. Nice to have Vic, Wanda, and the Wild Bird in CAL-RODS.
