February brings us Valentine’s Day & the 1954 Buick Century sweetheart ride of Bill & Sandy Seiber. The Buick was the very first featured car Cal-Rods ever featured & was done in a one day hurry & the coverage was not the best. Doug had been telling Bill for a long time he was going to redo the coverage article someday to get some more pictures & today is the day.
Bill bought the car from Cal-Rods member Sam Browne in 2006. Since that time he has added Vintage Air, high torque starter, & components to dress up the engine.
One of the amazing things about this car is at every car show someone will come up to Bill & start talking about the Buick their dad, uncle, granddad or someone else had. There is always someone who will proclaim the Century is supposed to have four portholes & Bill will have to tell them, “No, only three holes because the 1954 Century was the first year & it was built with the Special body on the Roadmaster under carriage”.
Bill does drive the Buick & has traveled to quite a few out of town car shows such as: Pinetop, Arizona, Solvang, Santa Barbara, Dana Point, Palm Springs, Seal Beach, & Big Bear. The Buick is always well received & Bill has quite a collection of trophies. The car is a fine compliment to the cars of Cal-Rods.
