CAL-RODS FEATURED CAR FOR JUNE 2025

Written by Terry Lowe

OWNER:  KELLY ANDERSON

Kelly Anderson’s 2000 Chevy Camaro – A Hugger Orange Heartbreaker

From the digital scrapheap of Facebook Marketplace to the polished tarmac of car shows and the raw thunder of the drag strip, Kelly Anderson’s 2000 Chevy Camaro has lived one hell of a second life. Clad in searing Hugger Orange and rumbling with the fury of 418 cubic inches of stroker power, this isn’t just a car — it’s a statement.

Under the hood, things get serious. The small block’s been stroked to 418 cu.in., and if that weren’t enough, Kelly’s armed it with a 250-shot of nitrous. All that grunt is funneled through a bulletproof Turbo 400 transmission and planted into the pavement with a 35-spline 12-bolt Chevy rear end — fully spooled with 4.11 gears for no-nonsense launches. And yes, it hooks hard, thanks to Saunder beadlocks wrapped in Hoosier tires that were born for burnouts.

Inside, it’s all business: a black interior stripped to essentials, a full roll cage, and a Kirkey race seat that hugs tighter than your first heartbreak. This Camaro isn’t about comfort — it’s about control, power, and purpose.

Kelly’s only put 75 miles on the car in the last three years, but when you do life one eighth-mile at a time, that’s a whole lot of action. Whether it’s turning heads at local shows or turning rubber into vapor on the strip, this car earns every bit of its street cred. As Kelly puts it, this is a “wheel poppin’, drag rod that breaks a lot of men’s hearts.” And we believe her.

Built, not bought — and badass from grille to tailpipe — this Camaro is proof that when passion meets horsepower, legends get forged.
