CAL-RODS FEATURED CAR FOR SEPTEMBER 2018

Written by Ron Merry

Owners: Roy and Bitsy Hall

1951 Chevrolet

Engine:  350 Chevrolet ZZ4                Trans:  700R4 w/overdrive & Aluminum Driveshaft

Front end:  TCI Mustang                    Rear end:  9” Ford w/ 4 Link Suspension

Color:   Royal Blue                              Upholstery:  Two-Tone Tan Leather

This beautiful car has many subtle details that are almost too numerous to mention, all of which were fabricated by Roy; from the rearview mirror, removed drip rails, frenched taillights, custom console and unique dash, as well as other subtle modifications.  The suspension is also augmented with airbags.  In retaining the stock look of a ‘51 Chevrolet, these details make it stand out from the rest.

Roy bought the car from the original owner, and it still had the original paint and upholstery.  Since then, of course, Roy has turned into a real award-winning show car.  We all remember when Roy’s car was featured on the flyer and t-shirt for the Santa Anita car show.

Roy did all the fabrication and body work on the car, and it reflects his skill at car building.  The car is a driver, so look for it at many of the So Cal car shows.

This ’51 Chevrolet is another example of the many outstanding CAL-RODS fleet of cars.
