CAL-RODS FEATURED CAR FOR SEPTEMBER 2024
Written by Terry Lowe
OWNER: MARK BOWER 1963 1/2 FORD FALCON YEAR: 1963 1/2 MAKE AND MODEL: FORD FALCON 4 DOOR WAGON COLOR: BLUE UPHOLSTERY: BLUE ENGINE: 260 FORD CHALLENGER V8 TRANS: FORDOMATIC 2SPD Mark Bower has come up with another unique vehicle, a rare 1963 1⁄2 Ford Falcon 4 door Station Wagon with a factory 260 V8. Mark found this car in Glendora, through a friend, in a barn covered in dust along with 2 other cars. The Falcon had been setting since 1991 and had 100,007 miles on the odometer Mark cleaned the Station Wagon up and got it running in no time. He replaced the gas tank and installed a tilt wheel column along with a nice wood trimmed steering wheel. The only thing not working right was the motor for the rear tailgate window and that took a while to find. Mark found the roof rack through a fellow Cal-Rods member who had a relative that had moved 3 semi truck loads of parts from San Dimus to Texas, lucky find. Mark uses this wagon as his daily driver and also takes it out to weekend car shows. All in all this is a rare Falcon Wagon with a factory V8 which, by the way, Ford called the Challenger V8. Keep an eye out for Marks wagon and don’t forget to say hello. |
